The general rule of thumb for setting fence posts is to place one-third of the post's length into the ground to ensure stability. For example, if you have a 6-foot tall fence, you should bury at least 2 feet of the post. Additionally, spacing between posts is typically 6 to 8 feet, but this can vary depending on the type and weight of the fencing material being used. For our 6ft high composite fences, we recommend 9ft high posts, 3 ft in the ground.
