Once your samples arrive, here's how to evaluate them properly:

• Check colour in natural light - view samples outdoors in both sun and shade. Colours look different under indoor lighting.
• Compare both finishes - flip the board over. One side is brushed, the other wood grain. Decide which texture you prefer.
• Feel the weight - if comparing Enviroboard and Solid Core, notice the density difference. Solid Core is heavier and stiffer.
• Test against your home - hold samples next to your siding, trim, or railing colour to make sure they complement each other.
• Try the scratch test - drag a coin across the surface. Our rice husk formula holds up significantly better than wood-filled composites.

If you're deciding between similar shades, try viewing your samples at different times of day - morning light and afternoon sun can bring out different tones in the board. It's also worth checking how the colour looks when wet, since decks are exposed to rain year-round.
